If there’s too much high drama between your wallet and local movie theater prices,

then check out the affordable Colonial Theater at 95 Main St. in Keene N.H. This historic movie house shows first-run movies and has matinees coming in at $6 and for regular time movies, $8 adults and $6 seniors/students. Additionally, live shows cost less than in a larger metropolitan area. Keene is essentially a small New England town with a fabulous downtown, and the Colonial Theater is certainly one of its grand anchors, dating back to 1924!

Also, don’t forget to go next door for a cup of locally roasted coffee, sandwich, salad, homemade soup or baked goods (or all of the above) at Brewbakers at 97 Main St. The coffeehouse setting is cozy yet bustling and filled with locals as well as college students from Keene State College.
