Five Cape Cod Vacation Money Saving Tips

Share this New England story on

If you don’t want your finances drifting out to sea when visiting Cape Cod, we have five money saving vacation tips:

1. Check out Boston.com’s 25 free things to do on Cape Cod. It’s really an excellent resource for cheap Cape Cod vacation ideas, covering a wide variety of attractions including beaches, glassblowing,  bike riding and tours of the Cape Cod Potato Chips factory!

2. Take advantage of the Steamship Authority’s high speed ferry Iyanough special deal  as passengers are able to travel round-trip from Hyannis to Nantucket on the same day for only $50 Monday through Thursday ($25 for children 5-12 years old). So, you save $17  per adult and $14 discount per child. This special deal is good through the end of 2012.

3. Consider a vacation rental on Cape Cod. Rentals often cost less on a weekly basis than a hotel, especially if you split the cost amongst family and friends. Additionally, most vacation rentals have full kitchens, so you’ll have the opportunity to cook more, thus saving additional money.

4.  If you do choose to stay at a hotel, compare hotel prices amongst major travel sites in Cape Cod towns like Hyannis or Falmouth to find the lowest rate. This concept keeps things honest as you’re not just relying on one hotel provider to give what you think might be the lowest rate. We find it’s better with just one click of the mouse to get all rates!

5. Enjoy a Cape Cod Baseball League game. The quality of play is very good, the parks across Cape Cod often intimate and cozy, and the admission free!
