Awesome Headliners at 2012 WODS Free Summer Concert Series!

The remainder of the 2012 WODS Free Summer Concert Series promises to be “some kind of wonderful” that will make you “stand tall” — and should inspire a music “affair of the heart.”
Pardon the Burton Cummings, Mark Farner and Rick Springfield song references in the lead sentence, but I’m just “so excited” (should have used that reference for the free Pointer Sisters concert least year) about this lineup of performers to be playing at the DCR Hatch Memorial Shell in Boston, Mass. Cummings, the former lead singer of The Guess Who (from the 60s and early 70s), Farner former lead singer of Grand Funk Railroad (from the 60s and 70s), and 1980s Aussie heartthrob Rick Springfield all helped contribute mightily to the music industry of their generations with catchy, memorable pop and rock gems. Often, it’s hard to find music today with such consistently memorable hooks and melody (“Bad Time” by Grand Funk, “No Time” by The Guess Who and, of course, Jessie’s Girl” by Springfield, as shining examples).
These shows should prove to be tremendous entertainment offerings, bringing back some great, sometimes underrated music that deserves to be heard today — and perhaps inspiring the newer generations that might not have been aware of these supremely talented rock and pop musicians. The 1980s band Starship (with roots to the legendary 1960s band Jefferson Airplane) recently played at the WODS Free Summer Concert Series, and received rave reviews!
Cummings and Farner will be playing on Sat., July 21, and Springfield on Sat., Aug. 4. The shows begin at 7 p.m., rain or shine! The Hatch Shell is located on the east end of Storrow Drive, close to Mass General Hosptial.
Hope you can do the “Locomotion” all the way to these great sounding free concerts. Thank-you, WODS, for bringing back this special series for another “wicked awesome Boston summah!” What a wonderful tradition!
