The Water Fall in Mt. Washington
Valley, NH North Conway, NH - Waterfalls are the ideal place for free family excursions or priceless romantic moments. No where in New England are waterfalls so abundant and accessible for viewing as Mt. Washington Valley, New Hampshire. Yankee Sabbaday Falls: There are three drops in the falls, with pretty pools and a pothole formed by the swirling waters and sand. You can't swim, but it's a great picnic spot accessed by a 1/3 mile hike from Sabbaday Falls Picnic Area. Glen Ellis Falls: The Ellis River plunges 64 feet to the basin below in a torrent of white water. Signs describe the geology and history of the area. It's a relatively easy 2/10 mile walk from Pinkham Notch. Crystal Cascade: This two-tiered waterfall sports a dramatic 60-foot wall of water, followed by a 20-foot plunge, ending with a 90 degree turn in the river below. Park at the AMC Pinkham Notch Camp and hike three-tenths mile up the Tuckerman Trail. Thompson Falls: This is a series of falls along Thompson Brook at Wildcat Ski Area. Views to Mount Washington from the highest ledge are worth the trip. To reach the falls, take the "Way of Wildcat" Nature Trail from Wildcat's base. Arethusa Falls: Measuring 176 feet, these are New Hampshire's highest single falls. Bemis Brook Falls, Fawn Pool and Coliseum Falls can be visited at the same time. The trail starts at Crawford Notch State Park and it's 1.3 miles to the falls. Flume Cascade & Silver Cascade: These falls are easily viewable from the car on Route 302, just below Crawford Notch Depot. Get out and sit on the rocks alongside for a closer look. Ripley Falls & Kendron Flume: An easy hike with swimming holes at the top of the falls and pools upstream. The trailhead is off Route 302 at the old Wiley House Station. Jackson Falls: Easily accessible up Carter Notch Road in Jackson, Jackson Falls offer placid pools and small falls for cooling off. Picnic tables nearby offer the perfect spot for a picnic lunch, dinner or cocktail. Diana's Baths: On a full moon night, this is one of the most romantic places in the world.
