The value at the Holiday Inn Portland-by-the-Bay is very good for an in town hotel, as we found rates, at this writing, starting at $115 for a room with two double beds.
The location is ideal, just a few minutes from the Old Port — a charming historic brick and cobblestone district with shops, restaurants and a working waterfront. The Holiday Inn Portland-by-the-Bay is also right around the corner from the emerging “Arts District”, including the Portland Museum of Arts, Children’s Museum, and many art galleries and beautiful historic homes.
These two areas speak volumes to Portland’s presence as a truly special New England city. It’s a community of wonderful water views at Casco Bay, beautiful brownstones on tree-lined streets, restaurants with marvelous seafood, historic neighborhoods and commercial areas perfect for walking, and an overall small-town feel within a city setting. There’s really not a bad part of town, very unusual for a city.
We’d definitely stay at the Holiday Inn Portland-by-the-Bay again. The mix of good value and ideal location make this well-run hotel a very good lodging choice in this special city.
