Catching a Pawtucket Red Sox Minor League Baseball game at McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket, R.I., has “home run” written all over it.
One of the great baseball game bargains in the free universe, you have access to an absolutely beautiful stadium where it seems like there’s not a bad seat in the 10,000-plus capacity house. In fact, many of the luxury boxes are at ground level underneath the grandstands, instead of way up in the sky. With seven stadium concession stands with an excellent variety of food and drink, BBQ stands for groups, fun family-oriented promotions, its own parking lot, and box seats at just $11 (general admission $7 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under and senior citizens), McCoy Stadium is definitely a place to be for baseball fans in the New England summer.
The quality of baseball is terrific, given it’s a Triple A Minor League Baseball team and that that its parent team, the Boston Red Sox makes sure the system is well stocked with prospects (like shortstop Jose Iglesias and first baseman Lars Anderson) as well as former Major League players of note like pitchers Kevin Millwood and Hideki Okajima.
