If you love summer lake swimming and fishing, or a colorful fall foliage experience (not too far away, hard to believe!), be sure to visit Echo Lake Beach, located right off Route 93 in Franconia Notch State Park, N.H. The lake is simply beautiful, one of the most scenic and cleanest bodies of water we’ve traveled to in New England.

Beautifully situated on the slopes of popular 4,100 ft. high Cannon Mountain in the White Mountains, Echo Lake is a 28-acre beach featuring incredibly stunning views of where the Franconia and Kinsman Ranges meet, thus creating a notch.  New England scenery doesn’t get much prettier than this scene. The good thing for you is that it’s right off the highway in the heart of the White Mountains!

Equally good news for the budget-minded traveler looking for a one-day pass: adults get in for $4, children 6-11 for $2, and children five and under and New Hampshire senior citizens age 65 and over for free. What a great bargain for some million dollar views, pristine lake swimming and fall foliage bliss (the latter, usually best in mid-October)!

Editor’s note: If interested in booking a hotel room near Echo Lake, we recommend checking out the many lodging establishments in the Lincoln and Franconia areas.
