Bristol, R.I., features the longest running 4th of July celebration in the United States, dating back to 1785! Bursting with patriotic fun along the main street featuring a red, white and blue colored median strip, this 227th version of the Bristol 4th of July Parade promises to continue the amazing tradition. For starters, you’ll experience parade floats, a visiting ship, Miss and Little Miss Fourth of July winners, a Drum and Bugle Corps Competition, concerts and a fireworks display.
If you’re concerned about paying a lot of money to stay overnight in the Bristol area during the 4th of July, don’t worry. Our talented research team (that’s me) has found a motel just six miles from Bristol that, at this writing, is offering a room for under $60: the Knights Inn, Seekonk, Mass. A dependable national chain, Knights Inn provides solid, basic lodging, as we found out a few years ago when staying over in Liverpool, N.Y.
Hope you get to experience this special New England tradition in beautiful, coastal Bristol!
