The Katahdin Inn, in York Beach, Maine, has waterfront ocean views, affordable prices and lots of “inn” character — what a great combination!
Located above the rocky coast at Short Sands Beach, this charming 19th century guesthouse calls itself a “Bed and Beach.” The absence of breakfast doesn’t matter much as plenty of local breakfast places are nearby, and for many of us, a beach is more of a preferable attraction.
Hosts Bob and Rae are gracious New Englanders that make their home your home. We’ve always enjoyed staying with them and appreciate their down-to-earth yet professional nature.
The rates are highly affordable:
Rooms with full or half-bath range from $145 – $105 per night.
Rooms with a shared (non-private) bath range from $95 – $65 per night.
Other than nice clean rooms, there’s a sitting room with a television and a sunny side room with

views of the ocean. At another inn in another location those limited amenities would be underwhelming but at the Katahdin Inn, it really doesn’t matter. With immediate access to one of New England’s great beaches and the myriad things to do in lively York Beach and the more placid, traditional York Harbor and York Village, we think you’ll find the best of New England wrapped into one wonderful community. While ideal in the summer, we love the Katahdin Inn in the fall when the crowds are less and many of the local attractions still open. We’ve even been around New Year’s Eve — cold but beautiful with the coastal scenery offering different perspectives. With that said, the Katahdin Inn is the perfect foundation for this special New England destination.
