Mt. Sugarloaf State Reservation in South Deerfield, Mass., offers a nice, relatively easy scenic hike — only about a 9/10 of a mile up the mountain to see spectacular commanding views of the Connecticut River, the Pioneer Valley, and the Pelham and Berkshire Hills.
You could also drive up (for a $2.00 fee), but there might be a wait during the summer and fall seasons, given the limited parking space. Restrooms and drinking water are available at the peak, as well as a picnic area.
Put this one on your list of great late summer, fall foliage season hikes!
Editor’s note: we recommend calling Mt. Sugarloaf State Reservation before embarking on your trip to ensure hiking is open to the public on that given day.
