Nothings New \u00a0“Antiques and Uniques” in Norfolk, Mass., not only sells budget-friendly hidden gems and treasures, but is a hidden gem and treasure unto itself.<\/p>\n

Tucked away in a nondescript tiny strip mall in an area that looks more like Petticoat Junction rather than southwest suburban Boston, Nothings New doesn’t look like much from the outside with its plain brick facade and flashing “open” window sign. Upon entering for the first time, you’ll think that this is a just a living room-sized antique store that takes five minutes to browse, but the reality is that Nothings New comprises a surprisingly larger amount of space with more rooms jam-packed with merchandise. Expect to spend a good amount of time here!<\/p>\n

We found prices to be amazingly low, on “primitives, shabby chic, traditional, garden decor, collectibles and lots of gift ideas.” \u00a0My visiting parents bought a large antique lamp and vase together for under $50. \u00a0If Nothings New was located in, say, Bar Harbor, Maine, Newport, R.I., Chatham, Mass., or another vacation destination, the prices would be, most likely, exorbitant — self-appointed high profile antique shops in well-known destinations sometimes act that way. Because Nothings New is located in \u00a0a quiet, largely residential small town in a building complex with presumably lower rental overhead — and with unpretentiously friendly owners– the prices stay low.<\/p>\n

On our last visit, that friendly staff offered free cookies, fruit and refreshments while we looked for bargains, — enhanced by a store-wide 20 percent off all merchandise sale that day.<\/p>\n

The Nothings New name refers to the store’s inventory of antiques and definitely not the prices. Seeing prices this low is definitely something new.<\/em> Antique lovers, rejoice!<\/p>\n
