Here are three cheap travel ideas in the Putney area for your budget trip planning purposes:<\/p>\n<p>1. Eat at the <strong>Putney Diner<\/strong>. Unpretentious, friendly and serving big, cheap portions of comfort foods for breakfast, lunch and dinner, this is a great little townie place that bridges an old school diner with a family-style restaurant atmosphere. <em>Putney Diner, 82 Main St., Putney, Vt. Tel. (802) 387-5433.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>2. Celebrate Christmas, year-round, at <strong>Santa&#8217;s Land<\/strong>. This amusement park with a Christmas theme features &#8220;rides and slides&#8221; an &#8220;animal friends&#8221; area, and shops with Christmas-related items. Santa&#8217;s Land is best for little kids, but I think many of us are little kids at heart and enjoy destinations like this! I&#8217;d recommend checking the Santa&#8217;s Land web site for hours (a little inconsistent) and admission prices (very reasonable for a theme park!). <em>Santa&#8217;s Land, 635 Bellows Falls Rd., Putney, Vt. Open from March 1st until late December, Harlow&#8217;s boils maple syrup on weekends during the maple sugaring season (call ahead) and in the summer features pick-your-own and ready-picked strawberries, raspberries and blueberries.
