Worcester City Common in Worcester, Mass., has been recognized as one of Massachusetts’ best city commons in the book,\u00a0“Massachusetts Town Greens.” <\/p>\n

Author Eric Hurwitz cited the Worcester City Common as a “truly great urban Massachusetts city green” with its beautifully landscaped open spaces, preservation, historical monuments and memorials, impressive year-round events and attractions, and appealing old and new building architecture surrounding the Common.<\/p>\n

“I felt an instant attraction to the Worcester City Common because it embodies so many historical and modern-day elements that make a Massachusetts city green so special,” said Hurwitz. “While it’s exciting that Worcester is on the cusp of a major city revitalization and renaissance with the CitySquare project and myriad renovations, it’s also important to note that the city already has good bones, as evidenced by its often remarkable historical preservation, strong arts, music and education culture, and impressive green spaces. I loved visiting the city, especially seeing that beautiful city green and then writing about it for the world to read.”<\/p>\n

The 256-page “Massachusetts Town Greens” explores the history of the many beautiful town and city greens\"Massachusetts<\/a> that saturate the “Bay State” — from Colonial times to current-day town events, fairs, and other gatherings.
