The stadium — with a seating capacity of 6,000 — resonates with coziness, a clean layout and not a bad seat in the house. As one gentleman said after the game in a stentorian voice, “This place is like a mini Fenway ‘Pahhk!!!'”

But wait, that’s not all. The in-between inning shows are just as appealing as the ball games being played. During our last visit, a little girl sang (very well) the “Star Spangled Banner,” on-the-field trivia contests took place, K-O the boxing kangaroo club mascot got into it with the umpire, and kids danced with the Brockton Rox cheerleaders to “Cotton-Eyed Joe,” on top of the dugout. The PA announcer sounded like someone out of the Gary Owens school of broadcasting while the crowds frequently provided “thunder” by stomping their feet on the metal floor beneath. PA system sound bites included Elmer Fudd and Jack Nicholson (proof that Massachusetts prides itself on diversity) to further please the crowd.

The two concession stands with pizza, hot dogs, ice cream, popcorn, peanuts and other junk food staples are clean and offer friendly service. A beer garden and picnic pavilion beyond the outfield make the eating and drinking atmosphere even that much better!

Add plenty of parking spaces, a nice gift shop with many affordable Brockton Rox souvenirs and you have a complete low-cost package of fun entertainment in the good old New England “summahtime!”

Brockton Rox at Campanelli Stadium
1 Lexington St.,
Brockton, MA
Tel.
