Big-city amenities combine quite nicely with a really pleasant small-town feel. There&#8217;s plenty to do here, and many folks love the area so much <\/em><em>that they make it their permanent residence. Not too long ago, I was talking with a friend from the Boston area who moved with his wife to Bangor and never looked back. He spoke enthusiastically of the great quality of life, including a true sense of place, real estate affordability, a relaxed pace, more courteous drivers, and a nice mix of restaurants, attractions and community events. With that said, we were so g<\/em><em>lad when\u00a0Kurstin Pomerleau, an intern with the <\/em><em><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.VisitBangorMaine.com\">Greater Bangor Convention &amp; Visitors Bureau<\/a>,<\/em><em> sent us yesterday a fantastic list of free and expensive things to do in the Bangor region. Many different\u00a0exhibits that incorporate hands on playing &amp; learning for children are within the\u00a0museum; Sounds Abound, Mission: Discovery, Booktown, TradeWinds, Nature\u00a0Trails, Artscape, and Body Journey. <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mainediscoverymuseum.org\"><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">www.mainediscoverymuseum.org<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-style: normal;\"><br \/>\n-$7.50 General Admission<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">UMaine Museum of Art<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-style: normal;\"><br \/>\nWalking through the halls of the UMaine Museum of Art you will see over 6,500\u00a0original works of art, along with the current exhibitions by Jonathan Lux, Joshua\u00a0Enck, and Vicent Serbin which change every few months. After viewing the memorials outside you can enter the Cole Land\u00a0Transportation Museum and view many different staples on Bangor and the<br \/>\nworlds past.<br \/>\n<\/span> <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.colemuseum.org\"><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">www.colemuseum.org<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-style: normal;\"><br \/>\n-Outside memorial\u2019s free. Viewing the museum is $7 for adults under 19 is free.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">Korean War Memoria<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">l<br \/>\nThis memorial located in Mt. Hope Cemetery has the names of the 233 men who\u00a0died in Korea. The memorial provides a quick history lesson about the \u201cforgotten war\u201d. <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.koreanwar.org\"><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">www.koreanwar.org<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-style: normal;\"><br \/>\n-Free<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">BANGOR PARKS<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">Bangor City Forest\/ Orono Bog Walk<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-style: normal;\"><br \/>\nThis isn\u2019t your ordinary bog walk; it is one of the national natural land marks!\u00a0While walking though you will not only enjoy the bog boardwalk but also a few\u00a0others; Mt. bike trails, primitive trails, and walking trails.
