Nubble Lighthouse in York Beach, Maine ranks amongst the best known and most photographed lighthouses in the United States of America. It’s easy to see why. The exceptionally well-maintained lighthouse features a two-story keeper’s house, a 41-ft. tower rising 88 ft. above the high water mark and several outbuildings along juxtaposed with carved-out rock and patches of green grass. All together, the look is simply majestic — like a castle by the sea in the form of a lighthouse. What’s more, Nubble Lighthouse is located at beautiful Sohier Park. Sit on a bench or carefully navigate the rocks and enjoy the spectacular expansive ocean and lighthouse views from various perspectives. Although there are no picnic benches, Sohier Park is a tremendous place for a picnic<\/a>. The park also features a gift shop with Maine-theme merchandise, and Fox’s Lobster House — a classic waterfront Maine seafood restaurant serving fresh lobster and other seafood, as well as an amazing New England clam chowder. They also have an ice cream stand featuring wild Maine Blueberry ice cream. Enjoy the blueberry ice cream with a slice of wild Maine Blueberry pie and it’s that much better!<\/p>\n
