Ever dream of finding a coastal New England town that offers everything you look for in a travel destination?
It’s not as easy as one thinks. Some towns offer endless scenic beauty but have nothing to do beyond that. Other towns feature every kind of restaurant, lodging, shop, boutique and gallery to go along with the beautiful scenery. The problem is, many of those towns don’t seem real — that is, they are too heavy of the tourism and tackiness. Basically, they come across more like Hollywood sets than authentic coastal New England towns.
Wouldn’t it be nice to find a balance — a place to relax, shop, eat and drink without either being too boring or bordering on obnoxious?
One town I have found to strike that wonderful balance is Kennebunkport, Maine. Sure, it gets mighty crowded in the summer but what the town has to offer overall just feels so right. The beaches, the fresh seafood dinners, the thriving nature of Dock Square and the wonderful feeling of solitude at perimeter beaches serve as great starting points to fulfilling that right mix of the ideal coastal New England town.
You can read my full feature story on Kennebunkport right here for more information. Enjoy and hope you get to go there when the stay-at-home alerts have ended!
