Old Mill Restaurant in Westminster, Mass., Abounds with New England Scenery

I regard the 1761 Old Mill Westminster, Mass., as one of the most scenic restaurant destinations in New England. This reconverted old saw mill features a covered bridge, pond, waterfall, forest, and a long front porch with rocking chairs where you can feed the ducks. The interior is pure New England, too, with a roaring fireplace in the winter, creaky old wooden floors, post and beam ceilings, some salt-of-the-earth older waitresses, and very good Yankee fare.

The Old Mill hasn’t changed much through the years. I remember coming here as a child in the early 1970s with its all-you-can-eat lobster at the Sunday night buffet, and then looking forward to feeding the ducks until my parents said we had to return to our home in Arlington. The Sunday night buffet is gone (although the wonderful Sunday morning brunch remains) and I live in another part of the state, but the back-in-the-day memories stay strong while instant new memories are created with every visit here.

If you like a restaurant with pure New England scenery, the 1761 Old Mill is your place!
