After spending a day at Fairhaven and Mattapoisett, Onset Village, the New Bedford Whaling District, Horseneck Beach in Westport, Padanaram Village in Dartmouth and other wondrous South Coast of Massachusetts destinations, do yourself a favor and end the day by taking a ride up scenic Route 105 north.
A completely different landscape than the seaside travel gems mentioned above, Route 105 takes you through rolling farmland and beautiful lakes in small towns like Rochester, Acushnet and Lakeville. It’s hard to believe the coast is just minutes away from this remote but pleasant inland area in an underrated, virtually unknown part of the state to visitors. It’s especially nice if you can catch a colorful sunset that dances muted sunlight off the farmland and brings added personality to the lakes!
Editor’s Note: The beginning of Route 105 is located in Marion, right off Route 6.
