Blueberries and Maine go hand-in-hand. Wild Maine blueberries, in particular.<\/p>\n
This sweet and healthy berry grows with abundance in the “Pine Tree State” and comes in all different forms, ranging from plain blueberries ripe for picking to sweeter versions like ice cream and pie.<\/p>\n
The blueberry pie\/ice cream combination is surely one of the great joys of enjoying dessert in Maine. Fox’s Lobster House in York Beach, Maine, happens to make one of the best. The pie packs a plethora of wild Maine blueberries with the overall taste not too overly sweet. Additionally, the thick, high butterfat content and the densely populated local blueberries within the ice cream simply lend overwhelming joy to the taste buds.<\/p>\n
Fox’s specializes in this yummy dessert but the restaurant is best known as a lobster pound and dining spot with water views. The fresh local seafood stands out in the southern Maine area and, additionally, those views of the Atlantic Ocean — wow!<\/p>\n
Some prefer to devour the wild Maine blueberry pie inside after a nice meal, others at a picnic bench by the exterior ice cream stand.<\/p>\n
Either way, what a fabulous Maine treat!<\/p>\n
Oh, and by the way: Fox’s stands about 100 yards from beautiful Nubble Lighthouse<\/a> — one of the most beloved, photographed lighthouses in the United States.
