It’s hard to believe you’re only a few miles from urban Brockton and car-congested Route 24. That, however, is the beauty of Borderland State Park. When here, you could very well be in northern Maine, northeast Connecticut or other New England spots that have a sense of isolation and pristine beauty. How convenient for a Boston suburbanite!

Borderland does have a visitor’s center, however, with friendly staff and access to maps. Also on the premises is the grand Ames Mansion where Oakes Ames, a Harvard botanist (son of former Massachusetts governor Oliver Ames and grandson of U.S. Representative Oakes Ames), and his wife Blanche lived. Aside from the mansion and visitor’s center, you are in for a scenic treat with miles of beautiful wooded trails that just force one to relax. Not bad for just a $2 admission!

Borderland State Park
259 Massapoag Ave.
North Easton, MA 02356
Tel.: 508-238-6566

Water scene at Borderland State Park, Easton, Mass.
