The Noank section of Groton, Ct., instantly became a favorite New England destination for us with its beautiful, quiet waterfront and historic old homes on tree-lined streets. It’s a perfect place to take a stroll and enjoy the unspoiled Connecticut coast. While in Noank, check out Carson’s Variety Store for sandwiches, ice cream, Friday night entertainment and “conversation” (as posted on its store sign); and The Fisherman Restaurant and Lounge for superb seafood caught daily and served in a casual waterfront but classy setting. Noank is also the home of the famous Abbott’s Lobster in the Rough, a seasonal seafood shack specializing in lobsters.<\/p>\n
