Shore Rd., Ogunquit, Maine -- Scenes of New England Photos

Bad Puns About the Cold December Weather in Ogunquit, Maine

It was very cold on this December night in Maine. How cold was it? Well...

Article, photo by Eric Hurwitz created for VisitingNewEngland.com on 5/5/2021 @newenglandinfo

The December Cold Moon shone over the purple Maine sky on Shore Rd. in Ogunquit with calmness and unity that surely contrasted with a nation currently divided.

Ok, excuse me while I jump off the pretentious bandwagon here and onto the jackwagon for some much needed lighthearted moments that our society so much needs.

Yes, the Maine coastal scene you see here was absolutely beautiful. No doubt about it. But it was cold. Yep, really cold.

How cold was it, Eric?

Well...

It was so cold on that December night in Maine that...

Old Orchard Beach changed its named to Cold Orchard Beach.

A jilted rodent was singing that Foreigner classic, "You're as cold as mice."

Mr. Freeze Miser packed his bags and moved to someplace warmer. The North Pole.

A kitchen appliance challenged another kitchen appliance to swim in the ocean. It was clearly a "frigid-dare."

The local bank closed because of frozen assets.

A Portland radio station featured Cold Play all day.

The local smoke shop shut down because of frozen pipes.

The car radio played "Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire," with the singer listed on the digitial display as Nat King Cold.

My camera's freeze frame mechanism became just that.

Everybody stopped normal daily activity. In fact, Ogun-quit for the day.

The clams washed upon the shore were, sadly, just shells of themselves due to the freezing weather.

A telemarketing firm set up shop here for the season to make cold calls.

A not-so-nice woman gave this guy the cold shoulder on their first date.

I saw this Toyota truck go from being a Tundra to a frozen Tundra.

The town of Berwick changed its name to Brrrrrwick.

Ooookay, well, there you have it. Pretty cool cold, eh? Don't get me wrong, however, as I am not making fun on this moon over Ogunquit scene. It was one of the most beautiful sights I have ever seen in New England. Sometimes, though, the cold weather gets to be too much and humor can be, at least for me, a way to deal with the frozen temperatures. Hopefully, you, too, have warmed up to this way of thinking!

OK, that was pretty lame so where to now that might offer something far more redeeming about New England travel?  How about...
