Coming back from a travel assignment in the classic New England communities of Walpole and Keene, N.H., I decided to take a drive along Route 62 in central Massachusetts. I've always enjoyed the small towns on this often rural stretch, especially Princeton, Hubbardston and Berlin. Never in my wildest dreams, however, would I ever had imagined the best photo opportunity of the day coming out of the extremely friendly, but sometimes gritty working-class industrial town of Clinton.

The 4,135 acre, man-made Wachusett Reservoir is simply beautiful. On this particular day, several drivers pulled their cars into a parking lot to capture this grand scene. It seemed like a one-in-a-million scene, but friends and former co-workers from Clinton have told me that the Reservoir has a different personality every day, thus yielding some wonderul day and early evening scenery. For that matter, you'll find some beautiful views of the reservoir -- in addition to Clinton -- in West Boylston and Sterling. Enjoy this hidden gem!
