October Pumpkin Patch at Epiphany Church in Walpole, Mass.

The Annual Pumpkin Patch at the Epiphany Church in downtown Walpole, Mass., proves that some of the most classic New England fall attractions can be located right in your own hometown.

Juxtaposed with a classic town common and the historic 19th century church, thousands of pumpkins brighten up a fall scene that conjures up images of being on vacation rather than something so close to home. Fortunately, that special time of year has arrived! The 2018 Pumpkin Patch runs through Oct. 31, Monday through Friday, 11:30 a.m.-5-30 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.

The Epiphany Pumpkin Patch also serves an incentive to give back. More than 1,000 Native Americans from a Navajo Reservation in Farmington, N.M. work to help consign pumpkins nationwide that result in more than $2 million raised for the reservation’s local economy.  Proceeds from sales at the Epiphany Church are returned to the Navajo Reservation to help the Native American reservation allocate funding for education, job training and basics for necessary everyday living. A smaller portion of the earnings remain with Epiphany for other local outreach projects.

Dating the back to 2006, the Pumpkin Patch has become a local tradition and a household name.  Locals eagerly await the thousands of pumpkins arriving by a huge truck from New Mexico. When the pumpkins are delivered, the scene feels like the kickoff of the fall season, locally. Combined with a crisp chill in the air and evolving color change in the trees at the town common, it’s a beautiful New England scene, not to be missed!
