York Beach
Maine 4th of July Fireworks at Short Sands Beach
Article and photos by Eric H.
Short Sands Beach in York Beach, Maine,
serves as a wonderful example of this traditional New England coastal
event. The roar of the ocean and colors lighting up the expansive sky combine to
create a magic that can only be seen and heard in person to be fully
appreciated. Add a community
band playing by the gazebo before the show, a sea salt taste in the air, the hot
summer sand turning cooler under your feet as the temperature drops,
and rocky coast surrounding the beach further enhances this special
night out. It only helps matter, too, that Short Sands Beach is one of Maine's nicest ocean beaches -- small and intimate yet spirited and family-oriented. Getting
ready for the fireworks to begin at Short Sands Beach while the moon
makes its first appearance...
Band
music at the gazebo serves as a great "pre-game" activity...
The
fireworks begin right over the ocean...
