Had a nice chat the other day with Bob, one of the owners of Sundaes at the Beach in Wells, Maine. He told us that in addition to the homemade ice cream flavors and make-your-own sundae bar, they now serve fresh Maine fried clams (summer only), quarter pound grilled lobster rolls, a variety of grilled cheese sandwiches, chicken tenders, burgers, hot dogs, wraps, sweet potato fries and more. Sounds like a great idea as now we can have meals at the very same place we have been going for dessert the past few years! I personally think that the freshly-made ice cream is amongst the best we’ve tried in New England — and in such a terrific location so close to the beaches. For budget travelers like us, we look forward to trying the “new” Sundaes at the Beach as the food and ice cream prices combined look to be a better value than many other restaurants in the area serving the same type of food. The inside is spotless and colorfully decorated while the outdoor seating should be nice during the warmer days.
