If you love independently-owned book stores, we recommend checking out The Book Bear in West Brookfield, Mass., in your next chapter of book browsing. After all, you can’t go wrong with a selection of around 90,000 used, rare and out of print books!
In business for more than 30 years and with no computer inventory of its books, the Book Bear is old-school in its business model, as well as its prices. I found a health book that originally cost $26, but marked down to $6.50. There’s a great mix of fiction and non fiction books.
This long-sized building with the big bear on the outside (fake, of course!), and a wonderful book smell, well-marked category sections and friendly staff on the inside will surely delight book lovers. It’s so nice to find stores like the Book Bear thriving in this day of age, and we support them every time we visit West Brookfield (central Massachusetts). I’d say the Book Bear is one of our favorite locally-owned book stores in New England, mainly due to its vast selection but also based on a love for friendly, viable, long standing locally-owned businesses.
