A perspective on Clinton, CT

Clinton might not have quite the classic, coastal New England appeal of nearby Old Saybrook, Guilford, Madison and Old Lyme, but the location certainly is worth considering for a stay. It's a very nice town, close to beautiful 900-acre Hammonasset Beach State Park in Madison with a wonderful two-mile beach on Long Island Sound. Old Lyme seems stuck in time with rows of stunning old homes and virtually no commercialism. Old Saybrook has one of Connecticut's great downtowns -- a gaslamp-lit long stretch with interesting, little shops, nice restaurants and the famous, great Dock 'n Dine Restaurant with amazing water views of the Connecticut River leading to the Atlatnic Ocean. Clinton is also just 40 minutes to famous Mystic, CT, loaded with attractions, restaurants and coastal views.
