Photo Travel Essay of a New England
Revolution Soccer Game at Gillette Stadium, Foxboro, Mass.
Article and photo by Eric H.
The New England Revolution, a Major League Soccer team, are blessed to play from March to July at Gillette Stadium, better known as the home of the New England Patriots of the National Football League. The 68,756 steating capacity stadium is comfortably spacious with fantastic concessions, a state-of-the-art lighting system, amazing video displays of the game, and not a bad seat in the house. The Revolution soccer fans are extremely enthusiastic, cheering their team on like there's no tomorrow and, as we witnessed, a large group that belted out chant after chant for a very long time -- conducted without subtlety by a leather-lunged man in a Boston Bruins jersey. We are dedicated not fans of soccer, but after watching this game at Gillette Stadium we became fans of the overall experience. It was just a flat-out entertaining time. We enjoyed the athleticism and stamina of the players, the roar of the crowd, and the beauty of one of America's great stadiums. Plus, the adjacent Patriot Place offers wonderful shopping, dining, lodging and entertainment offerings like The Hall at Patriot Place, Renaissance Boston Patriot Place Hotel & Spa, Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grill, Bass Pro Shops, CBS Scene Restaurant and Bar, Cinema De Lux movie theater, and a nature trail. To that we say, definitely make it a "Goaalllll!" to watch a New England Revolution soccer game at Gillette Stadium!
