This traditional, local dish has been a favorite through the years from grandma's kitchen to restaurants in the six-state region. Residing in Massachusetts for many years, we have found three restaurants to consistently offer amazing chicken pies: The Salem Cross Inn, West Brookfield, Mass. Plenty of chicken, a wonderful buttermilk biscuit and beyond fresh vegetables along real mashed potatoes make this chicken pot pie our hands-down favorite! Editor's note: not always on the menu, so please call ahead to see when being offered. Salem Cross Inn, Route 9, West Brookfield, MA. Tel. (508) 867-2345.
