The first Maine Department of Conservation’s official fall foliage report was released yesterday.
Fall foliage conditions throughout Maine will be updated every Wednesday through at least until Oct. 19 at www.mainefoliage.com. Here, you can easily access Maine Fall foliage information on your mobile device, as taking photos and instantly submitting them to the website. In addition, visitors to the web site will be able to sign up to receive weekly reports by email. Maine fall foliage fans will also be able to share photos and favorite viewing spots at the Maine Fall Foliage page on Facebook, or follow foliage news on Twitter using the “mainefoliage” hashtag.
What about the prospects for a great fall foliage season in Maine? Well, it looks pretty bright (and colorful!).
“Overall, the foliage looks to be in better than average condition,” said Bill Ostrofsky, a forest pathologist at the Maine Forest Service. “I fully expect the Maine fall foliage season will be delivered right on time as another bright and beautiful show.”
Editor’s note: We, at The Thrifty New England Traveler, recommend you book a room in your chosen Maine fall foliage destination as soon as possible before the “no vacancy” signs go up. You can compare Maine town and city hotel prices across major travel sites — thus finding the lowest price available — by logging onto the Maine Hotel Travel Page.
