Trinity Church Boston is simply beautiful. Designed by legendary architect Henry Hobson Richardson (otherwise known as H.H. Richardson), this Romanesque style building (and an Episcopal church) was constructed from 1872 to 1877 and features a clay roof, heavy arches, polychromy (defined as the use of many colors in decoration), rough stone, and a huge tower. It’s an amazing site, inside and out! I remember being here many years ago as part of First Night Boston (New Year’s Eve celebration) and was simply awed by the architecture, inside and out. I recommend you check it out!
For a schedule of October guided and self guided tour availability, please log onto the Trinity Church Boston web site. Trinity Church recommends calling them at 617-536-0944 before embarking on your visit to make sure the schedule time is still valid. There’s a nominal fee for both tours, certainly worth the visit!
Trinity Church Boston is located in Copley Square, bounded by Dartmouth St. to the west, Boylston St. to the north, St. James Ave. to the south, and Clarendon St. to the east
