Yes, it’s tacky, crowded and lively to the highest exponential power, but many find it’s easy to have a good, affordable time at this classic New Hampshire seacoast summer vacation destination. As mentioned, there’s plenty of cheap food and the expansive beach is one of the nicest and cleanest in New England for catching some rays and surf. Allow for some extra money to park by meter or at a lot, and to buy some sunscreen and Tums, and you have, as they say in New England, a “wicked awesome summah” day — translated, that’s a really good time!
For the rest of this summer, keep in mind fun events like Wednesday night fireworks, Monday Night Movies on the Beach (free admission), and the Hampton Beach Seafood Festival (Sept. 6-8, 2019). We recommend checking out the Hampton Beach events listings for more details on these and other summer events.
Also, we recommend checking out the Casino Ballroom — an entertainment center that has been around since around 1900. I’m not sure the entertainment falls into the “cheap travel” category, but the prices are definitely more affordable than many other places of this ilk. Many famous national and international music acts play here.
Considering some New England vacation seaside towns can get overly pretentious and expensive – and that so many travelers are trying to get the most for their money during a bad economy — Hampton Beach looks better and better each day when it comes to a cheap travel bargain by the sea. It’s not refined by any means, but the comfort foods are tremendously satisfying and the beach fantastic. What more could one want when in search of a cheap travel destination between Memorial Day Weekend and Labor Day Weekend?
