It’s hard to believe that this seemingly endless New England winter will soon give way to spring, and two fun, famous New England events — the Boston Marathon and the Patriot’s Day Weekend Parades in Lexington and Concord, Mass.
Lexington and Concord are well-known as the starting points of the Revolutionary War, so it’s no surprise that both towns offer fantastic Patriot’s Day parades, as well as other related activities from April 9-23. The parades remain our personal favorite events with authentic reenactments and colorful Colonial”period” groups marching the parade. The parades in Lexington and Concord are scheduled for Monday, April 18. For a complete list of events, log onto the National Park Service’s Patriot’s Day page.
This year’s Boston Marathon will be held, Mon., April 18. This famous 26-mile running event starts in Hopkinton, Mass., and ends in Boston. The Boston Marathon is the world’s oldest annual marathon! Log onto the Boston Athletic Association Web Site for complete details on the Boston Marathon.
