Portsmouth, N.H., has so much going for it: a coastal location, historical preservation, museums and other culture, great shopping and restaurants, and historic inns. What’s not to like here? We find with every visit that Portsmouth just gets better and better. Walking the charming downtown streets — like Market St. in the photo above — always seems to yield another wonderful discovery, given the small city keeps evolving and there are so many things to see and do that just can’t be done in a day or two.
