England Restaurant Blog -- August 2007 New England dining reviews Dining reviews for people who love eating out! Deluxe Town Diner, Watertown, MA 627 Mount Auburn St., (Bigelow Ave) - map Watertown, MA. Tel. (617)926.8400 Posted 8/29/07 The Deluxe Town Diner attracts everyone from the local "townie" to liberal college women who can't escape a sentence without saying,"I was like." This landmark diner has been around a long time, keeping its traditionally great burgers, bacon and eggs, pancakes and meatloaf, but smart enough to incorporate healthy, vegan menu items and imported green teas. To validate its keeping up with the times, the Deluxe TownDiner sells pancakes online! There's something for everyone at the Deluxe Town Diner, a place steeped in good local reputation, nice service and diner glory with its booths, stools, neon, counter and stainless steel. It's a great populist dining experience!Mini-Review by EH
Bear Rock Cafe, Woburn, MA Posted 8/20/07 This Denver-based chain offers a clean, comfortable, personable atmosphere that feels more like a "local place." The sandwiches and salads are tasty and oversized (with the former offered on a variety of right-out-of-the-oven-tasting breads), but not overpriced. The Bear Rock Cafe is perfect as a stop before or after shopping. Mini-Review by EH
Prime Time Cafe, Pawcatuck, RI 1 West Broad St., Pawcatuck, CT. Tel. (860) 599-3840 Posted 8/17/07 We thought we found a great Westerly, RI, restaurant, but little did we know we were dining in Connecticut! We had walked over a bridge, said hello to some very kind bikers, and then set foot in the Prime Time Cafe in Pawcatuck, CT. This small restaurant and bar has some very nice views of the Pawtucket River for either romantic ambiance -- or environmental outrage at the muddy water. This is one of the few restaurants we can say is special that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. We went for dinner, had some phenomenal homemade bread, wonderful clam chowder and the best shepherd's pie we've ever sampled. We look forward to return visits, based on what we saw on the menu: filet mignon topped with shrimp in a chipotle cream sauce, chambord infused salmon over a bed of spinach, baked duck with a cranberry pot sauce, and balsamic glazed chicken.
