Return to New England Dining Blog Sparta in Bedford, MA, Offers Greek-American Family-Style Dining for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Article and photo by Eric H. VisitingNewEngland.com Posted June 27, 2008 Sparta Restaurant, in Bedford, MA, has been around seemingly longer the Minoan civilization in Crete. While it may be a stretch to have a western Boston suburban restaurant dating back to 2700 BC, the truth is that this family-style Greek-American restaurant located in a old shopping center has stayed in business for ages by serving very good food at low prices. What's more, this family-run restaurant adds a touch of warm personality, making you feel right at home at their long-time "business home." Sparta does have Greek specialties like baked lamb, Greek Salads, Seafood (fried, broiled and baked), steaks, Italian dishes, pizza and just about everything else under the culinary sun. It's amazing that a kitchen the size of postage stamp can turn out so many dishes at breakfast, lunch and dinner! While not great, Sparta is a perfectly acceptable place to go if you live in the area, or if on business travel. Long and narrow -- sort of like a Friendly's with Greek murals -- Sparta has comfortable booths and tables and waitresses so experienced at their craft that they could do their jobs with their eyes closed. They don't, and the warm staff to customer interactions lend an additional appeal to this restaurant, especially ideal for families. Sparta, 5321 Great Rd. Bedford, MA 01730 Tel, (781) 275-9738
