Staying In Kennebunkport, Maine, Without Going Broke

The last time we stayed at the Rhumb Line Inn Resort in Kennebunkport, Maine, the price for an overnight was so low that I thought about washing dishes in the back to overcome my guilt for paying so little.

All kidding aside, the Rhumb Line Resort charged us $79 for an April 2012 visit — quite affordable, given the generally high cost of lodging in this beautiful coastal Maine town. Now some day, we’ll stay at one of those great looking historic inns

when the budget allows, but for now, the Rhumb Line Resort really suits us just fine. They have everything we need: indoor pool, hot tub, jacuzzi, fitness facility, in room cable television, phone and refrigerator, free continental breakfast and free WIFI. In the summer, the outdoor pool and dining area (with lobster as a specialty) look mighty tempting.

The Rhumb Line Resort lobby is cozy, the staff is quite pleasant, the setting secluded as it is well off the main road, and the location ideal. Scenic Ocean Ave. is virtually on its doorstep and the heart of Kennebunkport called Dock Square is just a few minutes away.

The Rhumb Line Inn looks like a well kept motel, but whatever the hotel category it’s a genuine bargain!
