New England's Best Kept Travel Secrets: Marion,
MA
Article

(MARION, MA, NEW ENGLAND USA) -- The small Town of
Marion might just be
one of New England's true hidden travel gems. Yes, Geraldo Rivera has a
summer home here, but most others bypass this southeast Massachusetts
gem on Buzzards Bay en route to their planned vacation destinations on
nearby Cape Cod. The funny thing is that Marion is about as Cape Cod
as
Cape Cod itself. The town is graced with weathered, but well-maintained
Capes and Colonials and their white picket fences and American flags,
shaded tree-lined streets perfect for walking, an old-time general
store, the polished and scenic Beverly Yacht Club, splendid water views
of Sippican Harbor, and a sweet, salt-air breeze that all makes you
want to check out the local real estate. Marion is a quiet town, void
of commercial trappings and full of old-time New England character. It
is also home of a well-known prep school, Taber Academy, that has the
quintessential New England private school look with neatly manicured
grounds and proud, old academic buildings. The Academy is a perfect fit
for the town center's true New England look, which is getting harder
and harder to find in many increasingly overdeveloped parts of New
England. We highly recommend taking a trip back to yesteryear by
visiting Marion. It is, after all, about as authentic as New England
gets.
