What a great time to get out the bicycle and enjoy New England through this classic, timeless cheap travel activity! With many travelers headed down to Cape Cod from Memorial Day to Labor Day Weekends, here are some excellent free paved bike trails from Bourne to Provincetown:
Cape Cod Canal Bikeway This well-paved bike way runs about seven miles between the Bourne and Sagamore Bridges with a wonderfully scenic companion along the way: the Cape Cod Canal.
Cape Cod Rail Trail The most prominent Cape Cod bike path runs 25 miles from South Dennis to Welfleet. A predominantly flat trail, the Cape Cod Rail Trail makes for a nice ride passing through several charming towns and beautiful Nickerson State Park on Brewster. Interesting to note, too, that Nickerson State Park has eight separate miles of bike trails that pass through woods, lakes, ponds, and bogs.
Cape Cod Provincelands About five miles of bike trail (hilly at times) in Provincetown with extensions that will bring you through forest, marshes, dunes, cranberry bogs, Herring Cove Beach, Race Point Beach and Bennett Pond.
Cape Cod Shining Sea Bikeway A mostly level 3.3 mile bike path that starts in Falmouth, Mass., gracing the Vineyard Sound shoreline and ending in the quintessential Cape Cod community of Woods Hole.
Nauset Marsh Trail Starting at the Salt Pond Visitor Center in Eastham and ending at Coast Guard Beach (often regarded as one of the nicest beaches in the Northeast) at the Cape Cod National Seashore, you’ll pass through woodsy areas en route to amazing views of the Atlantic Ocean.
