
The New England Mobile Book Fair in Newton, Mass., has amazingly survived the big-box world of chain book stores — someone should write a book on this!
Started in 1957 by the late former Harvard University-trained chemist Louis Strymish, the New England Book Mobile doesn’t look much different today than its rather homely warehouse-like origins. But then again, you can’t always judge a book by its cover. The book selection is vast, customer service prompt and straightforward (following Strymish’s business model), and the overall experience, extraordinary — especially the prices:
