Maine St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations and Attractions

Share this New England story on

The Maine Office of Tourism has suggested a great-sounding St. Patrick’s event, as well as an Irish-cultural attractions resource in Maine…

If you’re looking for a low-cost Irish-cultural venue in Maine, the step dancers from The Stillson School of Irish Dance and live music will highlight An Irish Evening March 19, at the Dunaway Community Center in Ogunquit, Maine. The Stillson dancers have competed in regional, national and international competitions. Additionally, the British film “Billy Elliot” will also be played during the Irish Evening. Admission is just $5.00. Call (207) 646-6170 for more information.

Did you know that Portland was home to Maine’s largest population of Irish immigrants?  The Maine Irish Heritage Trail offers visitors the chance to experience 58 sites significant to the Irish community in Portland. The trail includes former homes and businesses of famous residents, as well as the chance to see churches, cemeteries, schools and past and present social gathering spots. Log onto the Trail Web Site for information on each site.

We previously posted another Office of Maine Tourism suggestion for St. Patrick’s Day: Bath Blarney Days in Bath, Maine. Tomorrow is the last day of the event!
