If you love the romance and pure scenic splendor of Maine lighthouses, we encourage you to sit back and enjoy this wonderfully video done by the Maine Office of Tourism entitled “Light Spirit – Lighthouses of the Maine Coast.”

The colorful footage of Maine lighthouses in this are so rich in scenery that it’s almost like being there — we just wanted to visit each place after watching the video!

Visiting a Maine lighthouse is not only a cheap travel attractions, but you often experience many of the vital elements of coastal Maine travel in one stop — the rocky coast, the salt sea air and amazing ocean views. With a little luck, you’ll be able to find a nearby dining spot for fresh Maine lobster! We know this to be the case, for example, at Nubble Lighthouse — our favorite Maine lighthouse — where the seasonal Fox’s Lobster House is just a minute’s walk from Nubble. They have lobster tanks right on the premises! Fox’s also offers wild Maine blueberry ice cream. Does life get any better than this?! Lighthouses are synonymous with Maine, with a long and storied history.

Portland Head Lighthouse in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, was the first Maine Lighthouse, starting in 1791. Since then, the relationship between people and lighthouses is legendary when it comes to Maine travel.

Enjoy the video — it’s a great one and hopefully a motivator to visit one or many more of these of these Mains gems.
