When Pigs Fly at 460 US Route 1 in Kittery, Maine, is best known for its delicious homemade bread but did you know they also happen to make a delicious wood-fired pizza?
In the same building as the bread shop, When Pigs Fly also features a wood-fired pizzeria. restaurant and bar. It’s a spacious place with an industrial look, plenty of tables, high ceilings and a fun, unpretentious atmosphere.

The wood-fired pizza is amongst the best I have tasted in New England. When Pigs Fly makes it handmade, all-natural wood-fired, Neopolitan style pizzas with a chewy sourdough-like crust, smoky flavor and fresh-tasting tomato and cheese blend that includes mozzarella made fresh daily. My favorites? Definitely the pepperoni, as pictured above, as well as the Margherita…

and the eggplant and basil ricotta pesto pizza.

While the main draw of the restaurant at When Pigs Fly is the pizza, they also create fresh salads, burgers and desserts definitely worth trying. Oh, and these amazing Bavarian pretzels…
