New England Dining>>> Blue Fin Lounge, Foxborough, MA Peace and Quiet At Gillette Stadium/Patriot Place in Foxborough, MA? Scenic beauty surrounds the Blue Fin Lounge at Bass Pro Shops Article
and photos by Eric H.Ahhh, the peaceful solitude of Patriot Place at Gillette Stadium, located on the busy, long-stretch of New Jersey-like congested Route 1 highway in Foxborough, MA. One of the last places you would consider a quiet dining getaway, the Blue Fin Lounge is situated at the home of the New England Patriots and a highly- developed shopping and entertainment complex. This complex, however, has another side -- if you, literally and figuratively, go the extra mile. As one of southwest suburban Boston's truly hidden dining and scenic rural gems, the cozy Blue Fin Lounge, located in the lower level of the Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World, features a pleasant, relaxing outdoor patio that leads to a true nature's paradise. The Route 1 traffic noise completely disappears, giving way to the sound of a symphony of bird chirps, New Hampshire-quality fresh air, and a boardwalk leading to hiking trails along a pond, cranberry bogs and forested hills. What an ideal place to dine in the warmer New England weather, perhaps best during sunset. All in all, this backwoods sector of Patriot Place is kind of like discovering scenic heaven behind your favorite suburban shopping mall. It' looks like the place Opie threw a rock into the pond at the beginning of the Andy Griffith Show -- sort of like your own special place. The
Blue Fin Lounge -- as does the entire Bass Pro Shops building --
possesses this marvelously fortunate location, but the restaurant can
certainly hold its own. The Blue Fin -- part of the Islamorada Fish
Company restaurants located in Bass Pros Shops throughout the country
--
sports an interior Adirondack-style rustic charm with a fireplace,
antique bar, a limited but impressive menu featuring salads and
sandwiches, and just about any drink you could imagine. Appetizers
include spinach and artichoke dip, BBQ wings, and vegetable-filled
dumplings with sesame-ginger dipping sauce. Sandwiches
include grilled turkey, pastrami, corned beef and Ahi tuna
with
either cheeses or seasoned condiments, while salads feature mixed
greens with chicken, and ahi tuna. On my first visit,
I tried a delicious grilled Patriot sandwich with fresh turkey and
provolone cheese on dark rye bread. The meal came with French Fries,
something I try to avoid because of their deleterious health
consequences (now when have you heard a food critic have the temerity
to say something like that?), but couldn't turnt hem down here.
Perfectly-seasoned and
crisped, these French Fries could convert the most anti-fries person or
ardent health food advocate.Service was quite friendly, accommodating and efficient, just adding to the overall positive dining experience. Blue Fin Lounge 1 Bass Pro Drive Tel. 508-216-2700 |
