Maybe it's the feeling of warmer weather in the air and the rustic maple sugar houses saturating the Vermont landscape to make the Vermont maple syrup taste better than it seems, but probably not. Vermont maple syrup can stand on its own as one of the ultimate New England treats. Although Vermont maple maple syrup is amazing tasting any time of the year, buying it fresh from Vermont maple sugar houses in the spring clearly yields the sweetest experience. Here are two fabulous ways to savor the Vermont maple sugaring spring experience... The Vermont Maple Sugar Makers Association holds an annual Open House Weekend the last weekend of March where locals and travelers visit Vermont sugarhouses and restaurants to watch maple being being made. The 2015 Open House Weekend takes place March 28-29. Log onto the Maple Sugar Makers Association web site to keep up to date on details of the events. The Vermont Maple Festival is held annually in St. Albans. The 2015 event is scheduled for April 24-26 and features myriad events including maple syrup tasting, sugarhouse tours, a pancake breakfast and BBQ dinner, a craft and specialty foods show, maple beverage tasting, a maple exhibit hall and store, a parade, entertainment, races, and much more. The Vermont Maple Festival is not only a fun time, but also serves as one-stop shopping for maple products within a very nice, classic small Vermont town! Log onto the Vermont Maple Festival web site to read dates and times of scheduled events. ![]() The products of maple sugaring in Vermont.
